On June 13, 2008, friends and family members of the Spillers Family met on the courthouse steps in Douglas to issue a statement about an increase in the reward for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible of the murder of Doris Spillers Worrell. Le Ann Spillers Tuggle, sister of the late Doris Worrell, issued the statement. After the brief statement, the family traveled through town to see the billboard, and stopped by the GBI in Douglas for an update on the case.

PRESS RELEASE - June 13, 2008 - Douglas, GA
On September 20, 2006, Doris Spillers Worrell was brutally murdered at Jon’s Sports Park in Douglas, Georgia. Doris was my little sister. She was also a daughter, a wife, a mother, a cousin, a friend -- who was suddenly taken from this world in which she tried so hard to make a positive difference every day.
The Spillers Family is offering a $20,000 reward in addition to the $5,000 issued by Governor Perdue. The total amount of the reward is now $25,000. The money will be given for information leading to the arrest and conviction of all those involved in this heinous crime. In addition, we have placed a billboard on Highway 441 S in Douglas in hopes that it will spark someone to come forward with additional information that will lead to the truth.
We truly believe that there are others out there who know what happened to Doris. We plead with you to come forth with answers so that we can have closure in Doris’ death.
