Reward Increased To $10,000 In Worrell Murder Investigation

by Luke Roberts

DOUGLAS — The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Doris Worrell has been increased to $10,000, according to Coffee County Sheriff Jerry Pope on Thursday, October 19 (2006).  Just last week, it was announced that a reward was being offered for information, but not monetary value was given at that time.

According to Pope, the increase in the reward is due in large part to “many” donations being made by private citizens throughout the Coffee County community.  Pope commented, “I would like to thank everyone who had contributed to this fund.  Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, along with detectives from my department, are continuing to work diligently to bring the individual(s) responsible for this heinous crime and cowardly act to justice.”

If you or anyone you know has any information or if you would like to donate to the reward fund, please contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 384-4227.
